Information about the operations

Harjun terveys oy is a joint venture between Mehiläinen and the Päijät-Häme Joint Authority for Health and Wellbeing, which is responsible for the social and health care services of Lahti, Kärkölä and Iitti from 1 January 2021. The joint venture provides basic outpatient health care, oral health care, direct appointments to physiotherapy and health social work services to the residents of the area.

In the spring of 2020, the Päijät-Häme Joint Authority for Health and Wellbeing tendered for the procurement of services for social and health care centres, on the basis of which it selected Mehiläinen Oy as its partner. Mehiläinen owns 51 per cent of the joint venture and the Päijät-Häme Joint Authority for Health and Wellbeing 49 per cent. The actual contract has a duration of 10 years and includes two five-year extension options for the client. The client also has an option to extend the services to the social and health care centre services of other municipalities in the Päijät-Häme region. In addition, the contract includes an option for the client to extend the contract to include physician services for the elderly, inpatient wards and Akuutti24.

Harjun terveys will reform the social and health care services in the region to be more customer-oriented and its goal is to provide residents with the best social and health centre services in the country, which are easy to use when needed. The company uses a new teamwork model that improves the availability and quality of customer care. In the future, customers will be served by multidisciplinary teams of experts and the individual situation of each customer will determine which expert will handle the matter. The solution of the need for service starts immediately from the first customer contact.

The Harjun terveys social and health care centres with extensive service are located in Lahti (Harjukatu 48) and Nastola (Pekkalantie 12–14). The social and health care centres with basic service are located in Iitti (Iitintie 29) and Kärkölä (Opintie 1). In addition, oral health units are located in Laune (Launeenkatu 74 B) and 17 smaller reception locations. Both social and health care centres and oral health care centres use their own telephone number. The joint venture also opens up entirely new opportunities to take care of errands digitally. The Päijät-Sote Digital Clinic serves both via a web browser and the OmaMehiläinen phone application.
